Black Friday is over! Now that the stores have slowed down a little this would be the perfect weekend to take your family and get a little holiday shopping done. Many malls and stores have decorated and Santa has arrived so there will be something to entertain the smaller children. The biggest thing is to have a plan!
If you have children, allowing them to purchase holiday gifts for the other members of the family can make them feel special and included. Set a limit and then decide who will take who for the first hour of shopping. For example dad can take Susie while mom takes Billy. The idea is that Susie buys for mom and Billy while Billy shops for Susie and dad. Then you switch partners and shop for the others. Be sure to tell the kids that they are not allowed to tell what was purchased and if possible go ahead and get it wrapped.
Agree on a time and place to meet up and have lunch or dinner. Maybe even take in an afternoon movie. The idea is that you are getting out together as a family and while you are shopping your children will tell you things they want for Christmas making shopping for them easier. Not to mention that parents say things in front of children about items they want as well. Your children will share this information with you.
