Ladies, take note: One of South Korea?s biggest heartthrobs is back.
Actor Hyun Bin was discharged from the Marines on Thursday after fulfilling his 21 months of mandatory military service, an event considered so momentous that it was broadcast live on several national TV networks.
The headquarters of the Marines Corps in Hwasung was packed with more than 500 fans from around Asia to welcome him. They had traveled there on buses arranged by the star?s management company, undeterred by the blisteringly cold temperature of ? 7 Celsius (19 Fahrenheit) following heavy snowfall the day before.
At 10 a.m., Hyun Bin arrived on stage to greet his screaming fans. He removed his hat, dropped to his knees and bowed his head to the ground, just like he did?when he enrolled in March last year.
?I really appreciate your unwavering love?..Twenty-one months ago, I promised to come back with stronger,? he said. ?I think I kept the promise. I have became stronger and more confident.?
He then became emotional, shedding tears. ?I really missed acting,? he said. Korea Real Time has more.
